The phosphine oxide ligand bridges the molecules of the Lewis acid in butyldichlorophenyltin 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphoryl)ethane (1/1), [SnCl2(C4H9)(C6H5){P2O2(C2H4)(C6H5)4}], to form chains, i.e. catena-poly[butyldichlorophenyltin-μ-1,2-bis(diphenylphosphoryl)ethane O:O′]. The Sn atom shows distorted all-trans octahedral coordination.
