The title compound was synthesized and analyzed by X-ray diffraction, in addition to IR, NMR, visible-UV and mass spectral studies. The coordination geometry about the TcV atom is five-coordinate square pyramidal, with four N atoms in equatorial positions and an O atom in the axial position. The Tc=O double-bond distance is 1.664 (5) Å. The two amide Tc-N bond lengths are shorter than the two oxime Tc-N bond lengths. The central six-membered ring has a boat conformation with the Tc-bonded O atom `hanging' above. The intramolecular hydrogen-bond length between the two O atoms of the oxime groups is 2.432 (9) Å. The cyclobutyl C atoms are, more or less, in a square plane.
