2-(6-Methoxy-7-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-naphthyl)ethyl 4,7,7-trimethyl-3-oxo-2-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-1-carboxylate

The determination of the crystal structure of the title compound, C₂₄H₃₂O₅, allowed indirect elucidation of the absolute configuration of 7-methoxy1-desmethyl-calamenene (calamenene: 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-isopropyl-1,6-dimethylnaphthalene), a natural norsesquiterpene of the calamenene group, which was synthesized by an enantioselective silane-terminated Heck reaction.
