Bis(1,2-di-4-pyridylethane-N:N')cadmium(II) Tetracyanonickelate(II) m-Xylene Solvate

The title compound, bis(1,2-di-4-pyridylethane-N:N')cadmium(II) tetracyanonickelate(II) di-m-xylene solvate, [Cd(C₁₂H₁₂N₂)₂][Ni(CN)₄].2C₈H₁₀, is represented by the general Hofmann-type clathrate formula Cd(Ligand)₂Ni(CN)₄.2Guest, where Ligand is 1,2-di-4-pyridylethane (C₁₂H₁₂N₂) and Guest is m-xylene (C₈H₁₀). It was seen that the structure of the title compound is of a new type and quite different from that of the Hofmann-type clathrates.
