The hydrolysis of 2-acetylimino-4-(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3-oxathiole-5-carbonitrile in air results in 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-(N-acetylthiocarbamato)ethanoic acid, which forms a 1:1 adduct with the solvent acetonitrile molecule, C11H10ClNO4S.C2H3N. Even after ring opening there still exists a short intramolecular SO interaction [2.660 (3) Å]. The bond lengths and normal and in agreement with expected values.
