The reaction of MnCl₂ with [Mg{OCH₂CH(CH₂)₃O}₂] in EtOH results in a mixed Mg^II/Mn^II tetranuclear complex, tetrakis(μ₃-tetrahydrofuran-2-ylmethanolato-O,O':O':O')tetrakis{chloro(ethoxo)[manganese(II),magnesium(II)]} hemiethanol solvate, [(Mg₂,Mn₂)Cl₄(C₂H₆O)₄(C₅H₉O₂)₄].0.5C₂H₆O, in which all metal sites have distorted octahedral coordination spheres and metal ions together with alkoxo O atoms form a cubane-like framework.
