II atom assumes distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry formed by two isophthalate dianions and two benzimidazole molecules. The isophthalate dianions bridge Co
II atoms through carboxy groups to form a one-dimensional polymeric association. C—H
π interactions occur between adjacent aromatic rings.
