Tris(tetraphenylphosphonium) Decatelluriumtantalide Dimethylformamide (1/1), a Tetraphenylphosphonium Salt of TaTe₁₀^3-

The TaTe₁₀^3- anion of the title compound, (C₂₄H₂₀P)₃[TaTe₁₀].C₃H₇NO, consists of an extended `birdcage' of Te atoms containing an interstitial Ta atom. The Ta atom is seven-coordinate, with Ta-Te distances ranging from 2.753 (3) to 2.870 (3) Å, arranged in a distorted capped trigonal prism geometry.
