In the title compound, C30H26N42+·2PF6·3CH3CN, the two imidazolium rings in the cation adopt a syn configuration with respect to the anthracene group. The crystal packing shows weak inter­molecular C—H...N hydrogen bonds between the cations and acetonitrile mol­ecules.
