The present work is devoted to the smoothing of experimental pole-figure data. Smoothing may allow the reduction of measuring time in diffraction experiments. One very important problem is to avoid data falsification, i.e. to ensure the reliability of data smoothing. If it is assumed that a long time measurement has a lower level of noise and therefore better fits the real pole-density distribution, a comparison of pole figures obtained with different measuring times will test the performance of smoothing. An example of such an approach is given.
