Neutron absorption correction coefficients have been calculated numerically for annular cylindrical samples which are highly absorbing materials (1 < μR < 30). The angular variation of the absorption factor differs from that of an equivalent full cylinder. As an example, a gain of a factor of 15 in diffracted intensity can be reached at low Bragg angles for μR = 18 if an annular cylinder is used instead of a full cylindrical sample holder with the same amount of material.
