7,10,19,22-Tetraoxa-4,13-diaza[16.84,13](9,10)anthracenophane.2HClO4. C6H5CH3, C32H44N2O4.2HClO4.C7H8, is a diprotonated form of a molecular receptor described previously and the homologue of A22.2H+ is also described. The present A33.2H+ compound crystallizes with one molecule of solvent (toluene) and the N+-H bonds are oriented outside the empty cavity towards the ClO4- anions. The single-crystal fluorescence spectra of the free base (A33) and of the title compound are reported.
