organic compounds
There are two crystallographically independent molecules (A and B) having almost the same structure in the title crystal, C15H11NO2. The phenyl ring attached at the 3-position is twisted markedly out of the plane of the coumarin moiety. The dihedral angles between the phenyl and coumarin rings are 48.9 (4) and 54.4 (4)° in molecules A and B, respectively. There is a weak OH—N intermolecular hydrogen bond between the B molecules involving the carbonyl O atom.
