computer programs
Much scientific software developed on main-frame computers lacks a user interface. The authors have developed a method to create graphical user interfaces for this existing software, making use of World Wide Web browsers. The method has been implemented to facilitate input of data, submission of computation tasks and progress monitoring for X-PLOR jobs. The interface has been designed so that a user without prior knowledge of UNIX can use X-PLOR, provided that access to a terminal with graphical ability is available.
