The molecule, C20H16O4S, contains a dibenzobarrelene skeleton, with normal geometry and dimensions. The carbomethoxy substituent is almost fully conjugated with the C11=C12 double bond [O=C-C=C torsion angle = 171.3 (2)°, cos 2(angle) = 0.98].
