Analysis of the title complex, K2[Fe(CN)4(C10H8N2)].2.5H2O, shows that the asymmetric unit contains two [Fe(bpy)(CN)4]2- units, four K+ ions and five water molecules. There is extensive hydrogen bonding within the structure and, as expected, all hydrogen-bond donors and acceptors are involved in hydrogen bonding, resulting in a complex three-dimensional network. The water molecules and K+ ions occupy three different channels in the framework created by the packing of the [Fe(bpy)(CN)4]2- units.
