The structure of the title compound, C₁₇H₁₆O₄, obtained as the major product of the biotransformation of a diacetylated desoxybenzoin using porcine pancreatic lipase, has been confirmed. The molecule is twisted with an angle of 79.0 (1)° between the two aromatic rings.
