The C-N bonds in C8H11N2S+.Cl- (a potent inhibitor of human nitric oxide synthase) were found to be similar in length, indicating delocalization over the N-C-N fragment. The delocalization extends to the central C-S bond, indicating a structure more similar to a guanidine system than an amidinium one.
