Di-n-octadecylammonium Bromide

The title compound, C₃₆H₇₆N⁺·Br^-, has two diad-related n-C₁₈ methylene chains bonded to a central quaternary N atom which lies on the diad axis. The N atom and first three C atoms on each side of it form a coplanar zigzag. At the third C atoms, the chains bend sharply so that the backbones of the two parts of each chain subtend an angle of 129°. The chains continue outwards as coplanar zigzags.
