The Bi atom in the title compound, (CH₆N₃)₂[Bi(C₁₈H₂₅N₄O₁₂)].4H₂O is nine-coordinated through four N and five O atoms of the ttha ligand, where ttha denotes triethylenetetraaminehexaacetate. The non-coordinated COOH group is involved in a strong hydrogen bond with an O atom of a neighbouring complex, thereby forming dimeric units.
