The theory, design principles and performance data of asymmetrically cut grooved perfect-crystal diffractometers for small-angle X-ray scattering measurements are presented. A way of optimizing the diffractometer with respect to resolution, intensity and S/N ratio for a given experiment is indicated. The measured data is found to support closely the theoretical conclusions.
