Precipitation phenomena in a liquisol-quenched Al–5 at.% Ag–5 at.% Zn alloy

The formation of GP zones cannot be suppressed by a liqiusol-quenching method, where the quenching rate is very high. The mean value for the zone radius in the quenched specimens was relatively small (about 8 Å). The formation of the [epsilon]′(h.c.p.) phase begins at temperatures above 100°C after a short incubation period.
