metal-organic compounds
Molecules of the title compound, [NiCl2(C6H7N)(C6H13N)2], lie on crystallographic twofold axes which pass through each Ni atom and 4-methylpyridine ligand. The coordination polyhedron around the NiII centre is distorted trigonal bipyramidal with an N3Cl2 coordination sphere: the equatorial plane is formed by two chloride ions and the N atom of the 4-methylpiperidine ligand, while the axial positions are occupied by the N atoms of the 4-methylpiperidine groups.
