Di-μ-chloro-bis{chloro[2-(N-propylaminomethyl)pyridine-N,N']copper(II)}

The structure of the title compound, [Cu₂Cl₂(C₉H₁₄N₂)₂(μ-Cl)₂], has been determined. The geometry about the Cu atom is square pyramidal. The complex exists as a dimer about an inversion centre with the Cu atoms linked by two asymmetric chlorine bridges. The dimeric structure of this complex differs from the polymeric dihalo bridged chain of CuLX₂ complexes, where L = 2-(aminomethyl)pyridine.
