A Polymeric Cu^I Complex of Bis(1-pyrazolylmethyl)(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (BPPA), [Cu₂(μ-BPPA)(μ-I)₂]_n

The title complex, catena- poly{di-μ-(iodo)-[μ-bis­(1-pyrazolylmeth­yl)(2-pyridylmeth­yl)amine]dicopper}, is reported. The BPPA ligand, bis­(1-pyrazolylmeth­yl)(2-pyridylmeth­yl)amine, acts as a bis-bidenate ligand reacting with copper(I) iodide in acetonitrile to form the title complex. In the repeat unit of the title complex, one Cu^I atom is ligated by two pyrazole groups from one ligand and the other Cu^I atom is ligated by one pyridine group and an amine from the second ligand. The Cu⁺ ions are separated by a distance of 2.587 (1) Å.
