The 5,11,17,23-tetrakis(methylthio)-25,26,27,28-tetrapropoxycalix[4]arene, C44H56O4S4, adopts a `distorted cone' conformation in the solid state. This distortion from a perfect cone shape is well known from other structural studies of calix[4]arene derivatives. Two opposite benzene rings lean towards one another forming a dihedral angle of -15 (1)°, while the other two lean away from one another and form an angle of 108 (1)°.
