metal-organic compounds
The title compound, [TaCl3(C17H14N3)2].C7H8, is formed when 2,6-bis(phenylamino)pyridine and tantalum(V) chloride are refluxed in toluene. The organic ligand looses an amino proton and forms a σ bond with the metal atom while its pyridine N atom acts as a donor. A small chelate ring is formed. The two bidentate ligands and three Cl atoms afford a seven-coordinate central atom.
