Abstract: The pentacoordinated Zn atom in the title compound, [Zn(C52H36Cl4N8O4)(CH4O)]·CHCl3, is displaced from the porphyrin N4 plane towards the axial methanol ligand by 0.269 (2) Å. The average Zn-N(porphyrin) distance is 2.063 (9) Å and the axial Zn-O(MeOH) distance is 2.147 (5) Å.
