Abstract: Metalloproteins constitute a significant proportion of all known genomes. In this article it is shown that the marriage of two synchrotron-radiation-based structural techniques, namely high-resolution crystallography and XAFS, can yield unprecedented levels of structural information that is directly relevant to the mechanism/function of these important macromolecules.
Keywords: metalloproteins; genomes; high-resolution crystallography; XAFS.
